Known for being the “Live Entertainment Capital of the World,” Branson offers tourists ample opportunities to experience a variety of adventures–from live shows to amusement park rides, and even water sports. For me, it’s a place I’ve grown to know and love, and associate with wonderful family memories. Born and raised in the Midwest, I’m your gal to share all you can look forward to during your stay in this Ozark town for any season.

Silver Dollar City.

This Missouri theme park is a place for everyone—from children to grandparents—to enjoy and revisit fond memories made for years to come! Filled with warm, Midwestern flair, you and your loved ones will find plenty to do for a day. While visiting, be sure you don’t miss:

  • Jumping aboard the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train for a leisurely ride through the area’s countryside. Look out for train robbers when passing by the Silver Dollar Saloon! They’ll be ready and waiting to put on a comical skit for you.
  • Taking a walk through Grandfather’s Mansion—be ready for some laughs! This mansion isn’t like the rest, with slanting floors, mirrored walls, and dizzying effects that keep you guessing what’s in the next room.
  • Picking out your favorite flavors of salt water taffy at Phoebe Snapp Taffy. And the cozy shop’s craftsmen give you a behind-the-scenes look into the making of this cozy shop’s sweet treats using the antique taffy making machine! Fun little tidbit: Phoebe Snapp Taffy sells more than 75,000 pounds of taffy each year!
  • And of course, enjoying countless thrilling rides and attractions. New to the park is Fireman’s Landing with 6 rides and 4 interactive play zones!

Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede.

They don’t call it Dixie Stampede for nothing. Known for being the “World’s Most Visited Dinner Attraction,” you’ll enjoy stomping your feet to world-class performances while devouring a mouthwatering four-course meal. You’ll revel in a friendly North and South competition, horse riding stunts at top speeds, and musical productions.

Tripbound Tip: Be sure to arrive early to take a peek at the magnificent horses in the open-air stables and watch the pre-show entertainment in the Carriage Room!

Ride the Ducks in Table Rock Lake.

What better way to take in the Ozark’s scenic landscape than by splashing into and cruising the bright blue waters of Table Rock Lake! The duck mobiles are authentic replicas of WWII DUKWs (known as a Duck—no coincidence here) used to transport U.S. troops and supplies from water to land, and back again.

Before the ride, don’t forget to purchase Wacky Quackers (less than $3/each)—a noisemaker in the shape of a duck bill!—so you and your family can quack along with the captain, and the music. During the 70-minute informative adventure, the captain even lets you take the reigns and wheel around in the water!
Here’s just a sample of what you’ll see during the on- and off-land adventure throughout Table Rock Lake: Branson Entertainment District, Table Rock Dam, Baird Mountain, and Showboat Branson Belle. And fun fact: save $5 (adults) on a combo ticket when you add the Dixie Stampede Dinner attraction to your itinerary! Call 1.800.520.5544 for more info.

Shopping.

Looking to treat yourself during your stay? Branson is chock-full of outlet centers, shops and galleries, as well as boutique and specialty stores. Visit Branson Landing, which is open 10 months out of the year, features more than 100 specialty stores and restaurants. There’s something for everyone–from fishing and hunting gear at Bass Pro Shops to brand name clothing and housewares at Belk.

And if you can’t pass up a designer-brand bargain, set your sights on Tanger Factory Outlet Center or The Shoppes at Branson Meadows. You’re bound to find at least one item you can’t leave town without!

Go on a Missouri Wine Tour.

No kids along for your getaway to the Midwest? Check out Missouri’s wineries. There are two in particular you should set your sights on in Branson—Stone Hill Winery and Mount Pleasant Winery.

Located at the junction of Highway 165 and Green Mountain Drive, Stone Hill Winery is a popular choice. It’s also one of Missouri’s oldest wineries! Delight yourself in a free tour for a day of learning about and tasting an array of award-winning wines and juices. You are also welcome to relax in one of the six tasting rooms throughout your visit. Plus, don’t forget to check out the gift shop on your way out for wine-related items to take home with you!

Popping up in Branson in 2008, Mount Pleasant Winery offers visitors the opportunity to taste many award-winning wines in its tasting room—free of charge. You can even bottle your own dessert wine for $9.99/bottle—creating a collectible from the 600-gallon French Oak barrel to sign & date for a gift or keepsake!
