Beaches are beautiful and pools are cool, but the best way to beat this season’s heat? Go jump in the lake! As summer unofficially started this past weekend with Memorial Day, it’s time for you to start thinking about a vacation on the lake. Whether you’re a sailor, a sun soaker, or a splasher; chances are there’s an American swimming hole that’s calling your name. So chill out and cool off with Tripbound this Tuesday, as we name our Top 5 Summer Lake Locations.

Top 5: Summer Lake Locations

             Greers Ferry Lake, Arkansas:

With over 31,000 acres of clean, clear water and 276 miles of natural shoreline, Greers Ferry Lake is a great place to scuba dive and cliff dive. Tucked away in the Ozarks of Arkansas, this lake is an outdoor adventure waiting to happen. Whether you’re fishing for striped bass, hiking to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain, or making waves in the lake, there’s no shortage of water or wildlife at Greers Ferry.

Lake Havasu, Arizona:

Well, London Bridge finally fell down. Before you get nostalgic about the nursery rhyme though, head on over to Lake Havasu, Arizona. A man-made playground on the border of Arizona and California, this desert oasis provides plenty of opportunities to play with jet skiing, speed boating, and partying on pontoons. With blue-green waters, sunny skies, and the original, but reassembled, London Bridge, Lake Havasu is a spectacular setting for summertime fun.

Lake Lure, North Carolina:

Lake Lure

Just like Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, you too can have the time of your life at Lake Lure. Though this picturesque, mountain lake was the backdrop for many scenes in the 1987 blockbuster Dirty Dancing, there’s more to the lake than what was shown in the movie. From rock climbing and horseback riding to narrated cruises and dancing festivals, nobody puts a Lake Lure vacation in the corner.

Lake Tahoe,  California/Nevada:

Lake Tahoe

If you are looking for a laid back lake vacation, Lake Tahoe is the epitome of uninhibited leisure. With water colors ranging from Caribbean green to Alpine blue, who wouldn’t want to paddle board, parasail, or lounge along the shore.  Where California and Nevada come together, entertainment and excitement also come together, confirming Lake Tahoe as a summertime classic.

 Rangeley Lake, Maine:

In the hilly, northwest corner of Maine, you’ll find an illustrious cluster of lakes, rivers, and streams that compose the Rangeley Lakes Region. Venture off the beaten path to Rangeley, which is an ideal destination for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and even moose sighting, If you are craving a lakefront breeze and a stunning, New England sunset, this is the peaceful place for you.

Are you over the ocean or too cool for the pool? There’s no better time to jump in the lake and travel with Tripbound! With resorts in all 5 of these summer lake locations, and many more, your outdoor adventure is just a splash away.
