6 Free Kids Clubs at Resorts on the East Coast
When you’re looking to book a family vacation to escape the hustle and bustle and create fresh memories before your kiddos get any older, you might have a list of non-negotiables your home-away-from-home must offer.
Is a free kids club one of them? If not, it definitely should be! I say that because there are so many reasons why parents return from staying at resorts with one looking and feeling absolutely refreshed. I mean, let’s be honest. Sometimes, you just need some you time or the chance to savor some moments with your spouse without your mini-mes interrupting your conversation.
And, a kids club is the answer! But, if you prefer to do your own research, you’ll probably find this dreamy family amenity will cost you. So, the Tripbound team has taken care of the research for you to scout out the top six FREE kids clubs at resorts on the east coast. Get ready to pack your bags and jet off on a relaxing family vacation! Because, yes, they certainly do exist.
1. The Resort at Longboat Key Club in Longboat Key, FL
First up on the list is The Resort at Longboat Key Club in Longboat Key, Florida. It actually nabbed a few spots in Travel + Leisure’s 2018 World’s Best Awards – #10 in Top 10 Resort Hotels in Florida. Not to mention, Longboat Key itself was voted #10 in Top 10 Islands in the Continental U.S.! That said, it’s a no-brainer you’re bound to revel in beachfront accommodations while nestled among Florida’s gulf coast surroundings.
But, enough about all of that. I know you’re here to get the kids club dets! Let’s get right to it. Otherwise known as Camp Loggerhead, this supervised program for your little ones (ages 5-12) offers a fun selection of activities—from arts and crafts to on-property excursions, and educational programs run by trained staff.
It’s free during the season, and our daughter, Mallory Grace, enjoyed participating in it during our stay! They even took a supervised field trip (with parent permission, of course) to Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium.
You know it’s a win when the kiddos also get to spend lots of time walking and exploring the beach, too!
2. The Don CeSar in St. Pete Beach, FL
St. Pete Beach, Florida, was voted Tripadvisor’s #7 Beach in the United States in 2018. And, it’s just one of those destinations that’s bound to serve as a postcard-esque getaway. I’m talking sugary-white sand, crystal blue waters, and marine life putting on a show for your family close to the shore!
While here, my family and I stayed at Beach House Suites, which is a part of the legendary “Pink Palace,” aka The Don CeSar – located ½ mile down the beach from one another. It’s old 1920s glam mixed with modern day luxury. Best of all, these accommodations typically offer a better rate, and come with a mini kitchen, dining room, living room, and more. What more could you want?!
Well, access to Don CeSar’s resort amenities such as Camp CeSar, of course. Ask, and you shall receive! You can visit to allow your kids (ages 4-12) the opportunity to enjoy a ½ day of supervised activities for free. Every day, might I add!
It’s located right near the pool for easy check-in, too. And, once they’re in, your mini-mes can take their pick from beach crafts, seashell hunting, sand castle contests, pool games, and more. My husband and I opted to check Mallory Grace into the special Kids’ Night Out event (available every Friday and Saturday evening for a $50 fee) so we could enjoy a nice dinner out together from 6-10pm!
Yes, you read that right. Four hours of uninterrupted time to ourselves.
3. Holiday Inn Virginia Beach – North Beach in Virginia Beach, VA
Being that Virginia Beach is just an hour away from us (as long as traffic is in our favor), my family loves to visit this beach town as often as we can! The ocean and world-famous 3-mile boardwalk offer a seaside experience that’s hard to beat.
So, if you’re eager to make your way here and stay in nautical-themed accommodations that offer a free kids club amenity, look no further than Holiday Inn Virginia Beach – North Beach.
The Splash Kamp is awesome!
It’s a seasonal activity center available for your kiddos (ages 4-12) to enjoy hanging out with two living turtles named Tink and Tonka, family fun like a bouncy castle and cannonball contests into the beachfront pool, and so much more. And, during the winter months, it’s open during weekends – depending on occupancy.
4. Red Jacket Resorts in North Conway, NH & Cape Cod, MA
No matter if your family is filled with alpine enthusiasts or beach lovers, Red Jacket Resorts in New Hampshire and Massachusetts offer something for each travel-loving group. And, when staying at any of their properties—whether in North Conway, NH or Cape Cod, MA—you’re invited to take advantage of the seasonal Red Jacket Resorts Kids Clubs!
This free program is available during in-season, Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. for kiddos ages 5-12 (they’ll even receive a complimentary Kids Club t-shirt to rock when they’re back at home). But, all members of your travel crew are more than welcome to join them during any of the scheduled activities throughout the day.
Rain or shine, your little ones won’t be able to stop talking about the different indoor and outdoor activities they got to participate in, such as arts and crafts, magician and mad scientist performances, poolside bingo, “peek-a-zoo”, fishing derbies, and more!
5. The Nantucket Hotel and Resort in Nantucket, MA
Want to venture to this historic and quaint island town, located off of Cape Cod, Massachusetts? Your travel-loving family is sure to create some unforgettable memories here. But, what resort will serve as your host while you do just that?
Consider The Nantucket Hotel! It’s just a short walk to the beaches, ferries, restaurants, and shopping. That said, there’s no shortage of family fun while you’re here – especially thanks to the complimentary kids club, available day or night (for a fee).
The free morning drop-in kids club program allows your mini-mes (ages 3 through 12) the opportunity to make new friends while on vacation and participate in a variety of different activities, such as arts and crafts, field trips, games and Karaoke, scavenger hunts, rides on the antique fire truck, and more. You’ll get to enjoy an unhurried breakfast, energizing workout, bike ride, or shopping excursion while they play away until they’re reunited with you at lunchtime.
And, if you prefer to enjoy a night out with your spouse or the grown-ups of your travel crew, for $35 per child, you can drop your little ones (ages 4-12) off for the evening kids club program. From 5-10pm, they’ll get dinner, a fun selection of activities, and age-appropriate movies on TV until you return.
6. Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY
Dreaming of bringing the kids along for a stay in a Victorian castle resort, filled with tons of character and nestled in the Hudson Valley? I think Mohonk Mountain House might just be calling your name. It definitely looks like something straight off the pages of a fairytale storybook. But, not to worry – the complimentary kids club program here (exclusive to overnight guests) will ensure you get some one-on-one time with your favorite grownup.
With morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, the Mountain House’s goal is to provide an attractive, safe, and enjoyable environment that offers nothing short of a positive and memorable experience for children (ages 2-12), while also allowing parents the chance to truly relax.
Best of all, they cleverly divide those who attend into three age groups—Tykes (ages 2 – 3), Explorers (ages 4 – 6), and Adventurers (ages 7 – 12) to partake in age-appropriate activities, such as salamander hunts, scavenger hunts, parachute games, tennis, sport tournaments, and more. They also offer a Junior Naturalist program where kids become explorers with hiking, animal tracking, fossil hunts, and more.
I mean, how can you go wrong when it’s been ranked by Travel + Leisure as the “Best Hotel Kids’ Program” in the U.S.?! They really go above and beyond the typical family program and offer a ton of top-notch activities to keep the kids active, entertained (with no TVs in sight), and outside (when this NYC destination isn’t getting snowed on).
Often, when you think of a family getaway, you might envision spending so much time together while making your way through a jam-packed to-do list that you end up needing a vacation from your vacation as soon as you return.
But, today, you have options to help keep those exhausted feelings at bay – partly thanks to these complimentary kids clubs at resorts across the country. Your mini-mes can be whisked off on a supervised and safe activity-filled adventure while you, well, you have the luxury of lounging by the pool, reading a book without disruptions, or dining out with your grownup partner in crime.
