5 Things to Love About Norwegian Encore (The Newest Cruise Ship in the Fleet)
Welcome Tripbound’s Lead Resort Specialist, Megan, to the blog!
Have you ever wondered what it’d be like to take a cruise on a brand new, state-of-the-art cruise ship?
I’m talking about the smell of brand new carpet and paint, and the cleanest stateroom you’ve ever seen. Friends, I’m so excited to introduce you to Norwegian Cruise Line’s youngest and most magnificent ship: Encore.
My husband and I had the privilege of being one of the very first guests to experience this fabulous vessel at sea just a month ago. And what a fantastic experience it was. Encore has something unique to offer every travel lover in your family!
And today, I’m sharing just a few of my favorite things about this new ship. Plus, the reasons why Norwegian Encore (and the crew) will have you returning home ready to book your next cruise aboard this fabulous ship!
First, let’s talk about the delicious food.
From specialty dining options to freestyling cruising (choose & create your own dining and fun), and multiple complimentary dining options, Norwegian Encore will undoubtedly leave you feeling full on your culinary favorites.
The complimentary dining options include The Manhattan Room, which features modern and classic dishes made with the finest of ingredients—complete with spectacular oceanfront views from every table. Are you looking for a more intimate dining experience? Try Savor or Taste as they both serve the same menu. They’re, however, located on separate sides of the ship (depending on where you’re ported for the day), which means you can enjoy fabulous ocean views from either end.
If you’re a connoisseur of food, the specialty dining options aboard Norwegian Encore will honestly amaze you. From BBQ at Q to Italian at Onda by Scarpetta, French cuisine at Le Bistro, and seafood at Ocean Blue, you’ll feel like you’ve traveled around the world sampling the finest culinary cuisines. Oh, and don’t you worry – you’ll find all your favorite American classics at the retro American Diner. It’s located on the pool deck, with options such as homemade mozzarella sticks, spectacular milkshakes, and the best burgers you’ll find on a cruise ship.
And, last but not least – let’s be honest, no cruise ship built in 2019 is complete without an onboard Starbucks. Be sure to enjoy your favorite latte, cappuccino, or morning cup of coffee with spectacular views of the ocean!
Now, pair that food with perfectly crafted cocktails.
When it comes to cocktails, Norwegian Encore ensures that no matter what type of drinks or atmosphere you enjoy, there will be a place for every guest to relax and unwind. You might find your favorite spot is poolside, oceanside, up at the bar, or around the cellars. No matter what you choose, however, this ship has a bar or lounge perfect for every cocktail lover.
We personally enjoyed The District Brew House. It services over 24 draft beers, and the Sugarcane Mojito Bar, crafting some of the best and most unique mojitos on the high seas.
Maybe you love wine, and your spouse loves whiskey. There’s really something for everyone! You can each grab a glass of your preferred pours from The Cellars Wine Bar and Maltings Whiskey Bar. Then, enjoy them together while taking a stroll along The Waterfront, a mid-level deck where you can soak in breathtaking views.
Give a standing ovation for the entertainment.
When it comes to entertainment at sea, Norwegian prides itself on bringing the best of the best to cruise-goers. And onboard Encore, you can expect to experience the highest quality of Broadway-style shows. Exclusive to this particular ship is the award-winning Kinky Boots, with a cast guaranteed to bring you to your feet.
Our personal favorite? Rocking out to the classic hits at Choir of Man, which is currently the top-rated show aboard Norwegian Encore. Or, step into a New Orleans speakeasy at Happy Hour Prohibition – The Musical, and enjoy both a show and a few drinks. Whatever you do, be sure to take a trip The Cavern Club. You’ll enjoy a blast from the past with the classic hits from the Beatles.
Not a fan of musicals? No worries. The comedians in the Social Comedy and Night Club will have you laughing the night away.
And endless activities.
Norwegian Encore has all your classic onboard cruise activities like waterslides, pools, and an arcade room. But what really makes this ship unique?
Well, for starters, how does a 1,100-foot speedway for go-kart racing at sea sound? Nothing makes you feel like a kid again more than experiencing chills and thrills of driving a race car on a cruise ship! Did I mention the track suspends 13 feet off the boat? Talk about fun that gets your heart racing. Spectators can even get in on the fun by giving drivers a power boost through innovative technology with laser tag guns.
Speaking of laser tag – Norwegian Encore features the largest laser tag course on the back of the ship! Hunt down your friends and have a friendly (or competitive) game of laser tag with the ocean as your backdrop. Be sure to play at night to experience the top-notch technology of this innovative course. If you prefer the virtual side of gaming, however, step into the Galaxy Pavilion! It features virtual reality (VR) experiences and exhilarating simulator rides. My personal favorite? Experiencing a VR drive in a real race car!
Last but not least, you’ll love the unique accommodations.
Have you ever heard the saying, “Cruise ships are built for families of 4”?
One of the biggest questions I get as a travel agent is why cruise ships don’t cater to families of 5+.
Well, friends, Norwegian Cruise Line heard your frustration and built cabins that cater to your travel crew! Onboard Encore, you can book a five-person Family Ocean View Cabin without splurging on a super fancy suite, which further illustrates that cruising is an affordable vacation option for families.
Maybe you’re thinking of bringing grandma along to help with the kids. But, you only need a single-person occupancy cabin for her. I have great news for you on that front, too! Norwegian Encore offers single room occupancy cabins for guests who want their very own private space. Best of all, they even have a club for single cruisers to meet fellow single cruisers.
And if you’re looking for the ultimate in luxury for your cruise and want a more all-inclusive option, check out the exclusive accommodations in The Haven. These high-end cabins and suites feature the ship’s best-of-the-best in luxury and pampering. Guests booked in The Haven will enjoy a private butler, serene private sundeck, breathtaking pool, on-site spa, private restaurant, and a true sanctuary-at-sea experience. Be sure to ask your travel agent how to make this ultimate luxury an affordable experience on your next booking!
Ready to set sail?
If this sounds like the cruise you’ve been dreaming of, the Tripbound team would love to help you bring it to life! Norwegian Encore has officially started setting sail out of her current homeport of Miami for seven-day adventures in the Western Caribbean.

And before I forget, December-February is the BEST time of the year to book a cruise because it’s WAVE season! Plus, Norwegian Cruise Line is offering the best booking incentives in the cruise market, including a FREE drink package, WiFi, shore excursions, specialty dining, and—best of all—free 3rd & 4th guests!
