I would describe this resort as…
A true oasis haven in the middle of the desert!
My family and I visited Palm Springs, California and stayed at the Wyndham Indio for our spring break vacation several years ago. I had heard good things about the Palm Springs area, but had never visited myself. I’m a big fan of interesting architecture, so I was looking forward to seeing the iconic old, art deco style from the 70’s reflected in Palm Springs architecture. My husband is always game to travel, and my daughter Mallory, who was only four at the time, just couldn’t wait to meet some new friends at the pool! I didn’t know exactly what to expect from the Wyndham Indio, but hoped that it would be a relaxing, tranquil environment for us on our family getaway.
What we found at the Wyndham Indio was unexpected beauty. Somehow, right in the middle of the desert, we were staying on lush, magnificent grounds. There were large palm trees, bright green grass, and babbling brooks with baby bunnies and birds scurrying around. It really was a little slice of heaven. The resort turned out to be about 20 minutes away from downtown Palm Springs, but the resort was so lovely that we wanted to stay and enjoy it anyway! We only wound up visiting the city once, and spent the rest of our time relaxing in our own little oasis. The suites here were impressive as well. We stayed in an expansive, modern suite with great amenities like a full kitchen, queen size trundle folded into the wall of the main room, nice breakfast bar and our personal favorite, the balcony. Each unit has a fantastic balcony or patio area complete with an electric grill and huge dining table! This was a real plus, so we were able to do some grilling, eat outside, and enjoy our breathtaking view of the pristine resort landscape and surrounding desert red rock formations.
At the resort, we loved spending time lounging by the pool. Since our daughter was so young, we really valued the shaded, zero-entry kid’s pool and the soft-padded playground right beside it. This area was clearly designed to keep children happy and safe, and give parents a great way to entertain and spend time with them. There were a few unexpected features at this Wyndham resort that took me by surprise, including a spa facility! Word to the wise- apparently it’s a common West Coast practice to massage the stomach, so hopefully you won’t be as alarmed as I was when I discovered that little fact! There was a delicious onsite deli and market for breakfast, snacks, and sandwiches, as well as nearby grocery stores to stock up the suite’s fridge. If you’re big into golf, the resort is also right up on the golf course! There was a decent tennis scene going on there as well, with courts and games going on around the resort.
This resort really exceeded my expectations, and it’s a place we still talk about to this day. For a family that travels as much as mine, it’s a true feat when something makes such a lasting impression on all of us.The true standout at this resort was its serene, lush landscape contrasting the desert surroundings! I can honestly say that visiting the Wyndham Indio was one of our favorite family vacations where we were able to enjoy peaceful surroundings and great quality time together in a unique, beautiful environment.
